Default Skill unlock packs

If you have been in the in gamestore you might have knoticed some skill unlock packs, if you have bought those packs i was wondering do you find they were worth it? Just a general were they worth it and why question i was just wonders and im also thinking about using it to get legendary skill hunter a bit easier with those skills that are only aquireable from monsters that arent guarenteed to spawn in a specific spot so worth it or waste of money?

You do not get the skills on pve chars. The skills are unlocked which means that any pvp char you make can use them.
To get them on a pve char you can buy normal skills from skill vendors or use tomes. To get elite skills for the title you will ahve to eaither cap the skills or use elite skill tomes.

would cost you 30 bucks for four titles. You'd still need elite tomes.

Imo it is definitely not worth it.

For skill hunter titles : no
For general hero bars : yes

I love being able to slap all kinds of new experimental builds on all my heroes. I would hate to find out that I can't let my hero use a certain skill because it's not unlocked on my account. That's the reason I bought the skill packs I wouldn't bother with them for my titles though, as posters above me pointed out: you'd still need elite tomes.

The non-guaranteed boss spawn points only occur in Prophecies. By now the foes there are really trivial, especially because you don't need to be in HM. It's a waste of RL cash unless you've got tons of in game cash to waste.

Ya, just as easy for me too uncap when I need them or buy them. Find out where the boss is, and cap it. Simple as that. More fun for me too.

While it won't do your pve characters much good, it will unlock all of the skills for use on your pve heroes as well as your pvp characters. This can save alot of time acquriing skills for team builds requiring multiple professions when you're starting out but most players will not use all skills through the course of the game anyway so it's really up to you.

It will allow you to cap elites using tomes for your pve characters though so that could be one benefit. The cost of the packs though is set to discourage this sort of effort, as you'd still have to do alot of effort to acquire tomes and therefore all elite skills etc

I unlocked everything back in my pvp days when Balth Faction didn't have any use other than unlocks, i think its a waste of RL money.

Default Might be worth it--maybe not

When I was first starting Guild Wars I had very little gold, terrible skills, etc. I was just learning about better builds and there were a few skills I was lusting for but had no way to get.

I saw the skill packs for sale and bought one thinking I would get the skills I needed for a new build.

It doesn't work the way I thought it would.

My heroes got all of the skill pack skills but my PVE char still had to purchase the normal skills from a skill trainer, use a tome (elite or reg.) or cap the elite.

I had to purchase an elite tome (major moola--I was poor) for the build. I didn't have any tomes since I was pretty new to the game. It cost me REAL money and the same amount of in-game money that anyone else would have had to spend.

If you are working toward Leg. Skill Hunter the skill pack will not help much (if at all) Yes, a skill is unlocked but all of those tomes will be VERY expensive to buy from other players and if you are getting them as drops in HM then you might as well just cap the elites yourself since a sig. of capture is only 1 plat.

I got leg. skill hunter by capping all but 2 of the skills--I just couldn't afford all of the tomes I would have needed. (1 was for the build I wanted and one was for a skill used by that random appearing worm in the so. shiverpeaks...grr)

In the end I do think it was worth it----for my heroes. I could make some good builds for them but my PVE char still had to get pretty much everything the usual way.

I hope this helps

Same here. Getting legendary skill hunter is really easy and not so expensive in terms of both time and in-game cash (expecially if you compare it with HoM stuff etc..).

I think that the skill unlock pack would be useful only if you wanted to start doing serious pvp really fast, for example because when you start the game you already have some friend already involved in high-end pvp, or if you have bought alternate accounts and you don't want to regularly unlock the skills again/you have RL money to spend.

Has anyone seen these on sale since they were half off on release? I'd like to get them for my second account but $50 for the five packs is pretty unreasonable; I'd be happy to pay $25 again though.

I actually bought the $20 pvp unlock pack instead of unlocking the skill pack. That way I was able to pick and chooce exactly which skills I wanted to unlock. I got less this way, but I was able to unlock the exact hero builds I wanted to. Also a few skills that I wanted for myself. It worked perfectly and was compeltely worth it to have a really solid hero set from the get go.
